Fudan University Library collects a total of 400,000 rare ancient Chinese books, including the best collections by Wang Tongyu, Li Guosong, Pang Qingcheng, Gao Xie, Ding Fubao, Liu Chenggan, Wang Xinfu, Zhao Jingshen, etc.. The Four Branches of Ancient Chinese Literature (Jing Shi Zi JI ) are largely in collection, among which there are nearly 60,000 rare books of more than 7,000 kinds, with more than 1,000 kinds in Song, Yuan or Ming edition, nearly 2,000 kinds manuscripts or hand copied scripts, and over 3000 kinds of rare books of Qing Dynasty. There are systematic collection of Shi Jing related books, collected works of Qing Dynasty, ancient Chinese talking and singing literature (Tanci), ancient coin books and local records.
Collection of ancient books consists of two parts, namely, rare ancient books and ordinary ancient books. The collection of rare ancient books has classified directory (book) for inquiries, and the collection of ordinary ancient books has both title directory and classified directory (cards) for inquiries.
Collections of ancient books are placed on the fifth floor of West Guanghua main building with service targeted at high-grade students, postgraduate students, overseas students and teachers of the University. Outside users who want to gain access to the service have to carry with them the proof of identity and reference letters.

The database collects 'Bibliography of Corpus in Ming and Qing Dynasty', including the collections of many state and university libraries around the world.
