Some licensed electronic resources, such as journal article databases, are commercial products with access restrictions.

Library electronic resources are accessible remotely only to Fudan University faculty , staff. and full-time students. The Informatization Office of Fudan University has issued a free proxy server ( libproxy.fudan.edu.cn :8080 ) . After completing the configurations, a screen will pop up automatically, please input your username and password of "Fudan University 's URP system", and the username is your work number. For more details, please see also the following configurations.

If you forget the password of the URP system, please retrieve it by sending Email to urp@fudan.edu.cn using your Fudan mailbox, you must indicate your name, work number, and department in the mail. Proxy Server Setup Instructions ( Proxy Access to Fudan Restricted Sources )

Configuring Internet Explorer  on Windows:

SELECT INTERNET EXPLORER OPTIONS

1  Start Internet Explorer if it isn't already running.
2  Click Tools in the menubar to open the Tools menu.
3  Click Internet Options... to bring up the Internet Options dialog box.
4  Click the Connections tab 
      For dial-up ISPs, you need to set your proxy configuration by selecting the “Dial-up Setting” you want to configure and clicking Settings... . 
      For cable modem or DSL services, click on LAN Settings...
5  Click Use a proxy server in the Proxy Setting dialog box
6  Enter libproxy.fudan.edu.cn in the box labeled Address , 8080 in the box labeled Port
7  Click OK .

Configuring  on Mac OS:

1 Click System Menu - System Preferences…

2 Click Network

3 Click Advanced

4 Click  the Proxies tab, then check Web Proxy(HTTP)  on the left.
   Enter libproxy.fudan.edu.cn in the box labeled Address , 8080 in the box labeled Port on the right.

  Check Proxy server requires password and  input your username and password of "Fudan University's URP system"

5  Click OK .

Please Note:

1. The free proxy is specialized in access to the electronic resources of the library, and you can not visit other websites via the proxy server. Please turn on the proxy when accessing to the restricted electronic resources of the library, and you need to turn the proxy off by unchecking use a proxy server option when you surf the internet.

2. When you set up the free proxy, if the following notice window show up "ERROR ： The requested URL could not be retrieved", please use the commercial proxy to get further access, Address: proxy.fudan.edu.cn, Port: 8080, and the authentication account is the same as your "Fudan University 's URP system").
