学生必须在11类核心课程中的8类选课，以满足核心课程的要求。因为核心课程的目的是扩展学生的视野，学生必须在8类课程的每一类选一门课，而这8类被认定跟他们所学专业离得最远的。每个专业都确定有3类课程免选(Exempt)。
